Review: My Top 5 Pregnancy Items

From bump support bands to multiple pregnancy vitamins and supplements, there are so many products out there at the moment that its easy to become overwhelmed with deciding what you need and what you don’t when it comes to surviving pregnancy. As a mother of 3 children, I’ve tried my fair share of products over the years and so I have compiled a list of my top 5 pregnancy items to share with you all.

(Disclaimer: some items included in this list have been gifted in exchange for a review but all opinions are honest and my own.)

1 – Natural Birthing Company

Natural Birthing Company is an award-winning product range for pregnancy and beyond. Developed by midwives, aromatherapists and chemists, their Vegan range treats the real symptoms of pregnancy and postpartum. I was very kindly sent some products to try during my pregnancy and I must say, I was beyond impressed.

The ‘Cool It Mama’ cooling body spritz was perfect during the summer months of being pregnant and also as a quick refresh during my labour…I even kept it in my fridge for an extra cooling effect. The scent is just gorgeous too thanks to a combination of key ingredients such as Neroli, Ylang Ylang, Bergamot, Grapefruit and Menthol. Not just for pregnancy, this spray would also be perfect for those suffering from tiredness, headaches, menopausal symptoms, anxiety and stress.

The ‘Sleepy Mama’ relaxing pillow mist helped a lot during those final weeks when pregnancy insomnia kicks in. Just a quick spritz on my pillow before bedtime and the relaxing aromas of Bergamot, Lavender and Chamomile helped me to relax and drift off to sleep much faster than usual. I am still using it now postpartum and absolutely love it!

Finally, the ‘Bottoms Up’ soothing spray was a godsend post birth for soothing down below. I was lucky enough to avoid any tearing but not so lucky to dodge the pesky haemorrhoids and a quick spray of this every now and then provided so much relief.

2 – Dreamgenii Pregnancy Pillow

The best part about having a husband who works shifts is when it’s his set of nights, I get to have the entire bed to myself! And trust me, when you’re pregnant with a growing bump, you need all the room you can get! This pillow from Dreamgenii has also been an absolute lifesaver this pregnancy.

When I was pregnant with Arthur, I suffered horrendously with hip pain to the point I was struggling to get up and down the stairs some days. This time around since using the Dreamgenii support pillow, I’m finding that it’s definitely not been as bad and I’ve been much more comfortable in bed. I love that it supports both my growing bump and my lower back, as well as helping to prevent me from rolling onto my back in my sleep which is something I always worry about.

3 – Loveleggings maternity leggings

I have a love hate relationship with leggings. I love the comfort and versatility of them, but hate that I can never seem to find the perfect fit or ones that don’t go see-through as soon as you put them on! That is, until I discovered Love Leggings maternity leggings.

Love Leggings offer a massive selection of various colours, lengths and fit and cater right up to a size 28. I purchased both the cropped and standard length black maternity leggings and have struggled to wear anything else since. They are lovely and thick with a cosy brushed inside and FINALLY, a pair of leggings that you cannot see through! I absolutely love these and will be most definitely be purchasing more in every colour. Everyone needs a pair of Love Leggings in their life…you can thank me later!

5 – Deepfreeze Pain Relief Cold Patches and Glide-On Gel

I was kindly sent a few products from Deep Freeze Pregnancy to test out and I must say, I’m really impressed! In my previous pregnancy, I suffered horribly with SPD and was dreading it happening again. 28 weeks into pregnancy number 3 and those all familiar aches and pains started slowly creeping back in, especially now with 2 small humans to run around after too.

Paracetamol just wasn’t cutting it anymore so I gave the glide-on gel a try and wow…the relief was almost instant! Bonus points for how cooling it felt too as its safe to say that thanks to hormones, I’ve just felt like I was constantly overheating! The product dried quickly once applied and did not leave behind a sticky residue and the smell was quite pleasant too, very different to the smell of Deep Heat for those of you that are familiar with that range. I love how compact it is and easy to just throw into a bag to take out and about if you need to reapply throughout the day.

The pain relief cold patches were also perfect for night time and the aches and pains of trying to get comfortable in bed. I just popped one of the patches on my lower back just before getting into bed and it provided relief all night. I will definitely be stocking up on these to help ease the aches and pains that will no doubt continue postpartum due to life with 3 children!
